Partial Outage Alert

March 04, 2026

Meter repairs in the 700 block of Skyline Ridge Lookout this afternoon have required another partial outage that will affect about half the customers on Skyline Ridge Lookout this afternoon. The repairs should be done this afternoon and we will update this alert when the water is back on. The board just received notice of this outage a little earlier this afternoon. Our apologies for the outage that is necessary for repairs and the belated notice. Thank you for your patience.

Update of today's water system outage alert.

March 03, 2026

Update on 3/3/26 outage alert notice. Our WSC’s outage is over and repairs have been completed. PGMS advises that today’s WSC system repairs have been completed successfully and the system should be fully pressurized and water service restored to all customers at the present time or within a few minutes.

PGMS personnel explained further that a repair scheduled for today which was not anticipated to require a system outage became an emergency repair, one which did require a system-wide water outage, after a valve being operated to make the repairs broke, and needed to be immediately replaced. Replacing the broken valve, in turn, required the system-wide outage that occurred this morning.

The entire SREWSC system should now be fully pressurized. As some of you may have noticed previously, some parts of the system ordinarily have slightly higher water pressures than other parts, and some parts of the system take longer to repressurize than others when pressure is being restored after a repair.

We apologize for the failure to make an announcement prior to this morning’s water system outage. The board simply had no prior notice of the chances for an outage because no need for an outage was anticipated by PGMS’s repair crew and only became necessary when a system valve broke during a modest equipment upgrade being made to our water system.

Thank you for your patience.

Effective immediately, Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (HTGCD) has requested that we curtail water usage by 40%. Due to a prolonged lack of rainfall, we are now in Stage 4- "Emergency" Drought Stage Water Curtailment, as declared by the SREWSC Board in compliance with HTGCD’s request and the WSC’s Drought Contingency Plan. Please refer to the following water conservation measures mentioned in the SREWSC’s Drought Contingency Plan, which is part of its Tariff, and continue to help us conserve water for essential uses only.

Indoor Conservation Measures

Continue with Dry Season Indoor Measures stated below:

• Check for toilet and faucet leaks and repair any found leaks immediately.

• Use water displacement device in toilet tank or replace older model toilets with HET models when possible.

• Install aerators on faucets. Don’t leave faucets running when not in use.

• While waiting for hot water to reach faucet, catch cold water in a container to be reused.

• Never use the toilet to dispose of trash.

• Only run dishwasher with full load.

• Store drinking water in a container in the refrigerator.

• Reduce use of garbage disposal.

• Wash only full loads of laundry.

• Turn off master water shutoff when out of town or on vacation.

• Draw less water for bath or reduce shower time.

• Do not over water houseplants.

Outdoor Conservation Measures

Irrigation and Lawn Care

• Irrigation of landscaped areas is absolutely prohibited.
• Cut lawns on highest setting and leave lawn clippings on lawn instead of bagging. Use mulch to conserve soil moisture.

Washing Vehicles

• Use of water to wash any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, or other vehicle is absolutely prohibited.

Pools and other Water Features

• Use of water to fill, refill, or add to any swimming pools, wading pools, or a Jacuzzi-type pool is prohibited.
• Operation of any ornamental fountain or pond for aesthetic or scenic purposes is prohibited except where
necessary to support aquatic life or where such fountains or ponds are equipped with a recirculation system.

Other

• Utilize supplemental water sources where possible (e.g. purchased water, collected rainwater, etc.). Supplemental water sources must be isolated from the WSC system per TCEQ regulations.

• Utilize water reuse where possible.

• Use of water from hydrants shall be limited to fire-fighting, related activities, or other activities necessary to maintain public health, safety, and welfare.
